Does Prayer Increase Romance?

“What could be better than hearing my husband acknowledge the difficult job of mothering four kids, keeping up with a house and trying to work outside the home?”
(p. 73) Kesleigh

(pg. 75 – 40DPC Book)

Lovemaking is more than a physical act. It’s also a spiritual act. God made man and woman to love and to please each other. His Word says: “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”[1]

We have asked many couples why they think their love life got better after they began praying together on a regular basis. Here’s a sampling of the comments:

  • “When the spirit and body come together as one, you can’t help but have a beautiful love life!”
  • “Our conversations are more meaningful as opposed to superficial.”
  • “Prayer time helps us eliminate feelings of resentment.”
  • “Praying together helps me to see into my spouse’s heart and soul.”

(pg. 196)

According to Baylor/Gallup’s preliminary study of couples who pray together, “for married people who prayed together frequently, lovemaking soared by 20% and marital stability became 16% greater.”
